Ok so picking up right where we left off... January 7th was an exciting day in the Peden household because the Longhorns were playing in the National Championship game! Kate and I got all decked out and took a lot of pictures to commemorate the day. Kate had to go to bed before the game which is probably a good thing because her mommy yelled some choice words at the television screen that night... As you know it wasn't a good outcome for UT but we think they will be back there before too long and this time our star player won't get hurt at the beginning of the game!!
Gearing up for the game....
Yay Longhorns!
Longhorn Alum and Future Longhorn! Shhh... don't tell Daddy!
Hook Em!
Our next adventure started around January 12th. I had been noticing these red splotches with raised bumps on Kate's skin that would come and go. I didn't think much of them but on that Tuesday morning they were covering her back so I called the Dr. About 30 minutes later I noticed she was a little clingy so I took her temperature and she had a low fever. She had also slept until 10:45 that morning so I figured she must be sick!
We went in to the Dr's office who told us that it was probably a virus but that the rash looked like hives so if they didn't go away we might have to think about it being a food allergy.
Here is a picture of the rash and Kate not feeling too hot.
Kate had a fever for a few days and then started to feel better but the hives continued. So I started to think she must have a food allergy. We hadn't really given her anything new but we started to eliminate stuff from her diet. After about a week I was convinced she was allergic to wheat or dairy and I was kinda starting to freak out. I went ahead and made an appointment with an allergist. They did a skin prick test and everything came back negative. She explained to me it was probably auto immune and the hives were triggered by the virus and her body was confused and still making the histamine that was causing the hives. She assured me it is benign and will resolve itself but in the meantime Kate takes an anti-histamine daily.
In other news Kate is walking up a storm! She starting taking steps back around her birthday. And by Christmas she could take 8-10 steps on her own. But on Friday she figured up how to stand up on her own from the floor without pulling up on something and now walking is her main mode of transportation. She just loves walking all around the downstairs and is keeping her mama busy...
Lastly, I am starting back to "work" part-time tomorrow. I will be tutoring at my old school 3 days a week for about 6 hours a day. Kate will be staying with another mom that I know that lives in the neighborhood right behind mine. While I 'm sad about leaving Kate I am excited about having some adult time, teaching again, and making some $!!!
I'll try and load a video of Kate walking later on today. But for now here are some random cute pictures of Kate.
She's so cute... even in burnt orange! We've already taught Calla "Guns Up!"
